A proportional reworking of Roger Robertson's Letter Gothic, designed by Gayaneh Bagdasaryan for ParaType in 2000 and awarded at the Kyrillitsa'99 type design competition.
About
Where the original Letter Gothic used fixed monospaced widths suited to typewriters and early printers, this revival substitutes proportional spacing while preserving the crisp, legible letterforms that made the source material distinctive. The result sits comfortably across both display and text setting. It was awarded Excellence in Type Design at the Kyrillitsa'99 International Type Design Competition in Moscow.
Classification
Derived from Roger Robertson's monospaced Letter Gothic (1956–62), but redrawn with proportional letter widths. Retains the mechanical, typewriter-influenced letterforms of the original while functioning as a conventional proportional typeface.
