A Bitstream-derived adaptation of Roger Robertson's 1956–62 IBM typewriter face, extended with a Cyrillic character set for ParaType in 2000.
About
Originally designed for IBM electric typewriters, Letter Gothic uses uniform character widths suited to tabular material, source code listings and informal office documents. The ParaType version adds Cyrillic support, developed by Gayaneh Bagdasaryan, broadening its utility for Russian-language workflows. Four styles cover normal and bold weights with matching italics.
Classification
A condensed monospaced typeface originally designed for IBM electric typewriters, with uniform character widths and a functional typewriter aesthetic typical of mid-century office typography.
