Motter Tektura specimen from ParaType

A 1994 Soviet-era geometric display face from SoftUnion, modelled on Otmar Motter's 1975 original, available here in a single Regular weight.

About

Designed by Nikolay Vsesvetsky at SoftUnion in 1994, the typeface follows the form language of Otmar Motter's Motter Tektura (Vorarlberger Graphic, 1975). The letterforms shown in the specimen are heavy and circular, with stencil-style notches cut at stroke junctions, lending a bold, poster-ready character. Only one style is offered through ParaType.

Classification

The specimen shows a heavy geometric sans with circular counters, flat-topped arches and stencil-style ink traps cut into letters such as 'm', 'r' and 'k'. These characteristics, combined with the page tags 'Stencil', 'Decorative' and 'Poster', place it firmly in the display category with a geometric, avant-garde flavour.
