A 1994 display serif by Alexey Chekulaev, derived from Richard Isbell and Whedon Davis's Americana (1965), issued in three styles.
About
Designed at Double Alex Font Studio, Laguna adapts the Americana model with high stroke contrast and fine hairline serifs suited to large-scale use. The three-style family covers Plain, Italic and Bold. ParaType lists it as decorative and suited to magazines.
Classification
The specimen shows high stroke contrast with pronounced thick-thin transitions and fine hairline serifs, characteristic of a display serif in the Americana tradition. The letterforms have an open, extended quality consistent with the page tags and its derivation from Richard Isbell's Americana (1965).
