A Cyrillic adaptation of Bitstream's digitisation of Rudolph Koch's Koch Antiqua (1922), issued by ParaType in 2008 with two weights and alternate lowercase characters.
About
Koch Antiqua, also known as Locarno and Eve, was one of the most distinctive typefaces of early 20th-century European typography, characterised by its small x-height, very tall ascenders and main strokes that taper downward. Isabella Chaeva extended the design into Cyrillic, adding alternate lowercase characters, and released the result through ParaType in 2008. Suited to display use in advertising, packaging and editorial contexts where a period elegance is required.
Classification
A display face with very tall ascenders, small x-height and gracefully tapering main strokes, derived from Rudolph Koch's Koch Antiqua (1922). Its decorative elegance and high contrast place it firmly in the display category rather than text serif.
