A subtractive geometric display face originating from Viktor Kharyk's 1978 sketch, digitised in 2000 with extensive multi-script coverage including Arabic, Hebrew, Greek, Armenian and Georgian.
About
Originally sketched in 1978 as an experiment in type creation by subtractive method, Joker was digitised and expanded in 2000 to include Cyrillic, Latin, Arabic, Hebrew, Greek, Armenian and Georgian alphabets alongside an outline style. Its modular construction suits decorative compositions in both vertical and horizontal arrangements, and the open forms invite infill with images or textures for ornamental effects. The family won third prize at the TypeArt 2001 Cyrillic type design competition in Moscow.
Classification
A subtractive geometric display face with modular letterforms and an outline variant, designed for decorative and advertising use rather than text setting.
