Jefferson specimen from ParaType

A script typeface digitised directly from Thomas Jefferson's handwritten draft of the Declaration of Independence, with OpenType contextual substitution to replicate natural variation.

About

Gennady Fridman drew the letterforms from Jefferson's original manuscript draft, using the document as the primary source for each glyph. The font is built in OpenType format and employs contextual substitution and discretionary ligatures to reproduce the organic inconsistencies of genuine handwriting. Released by ParaType in 2005, it is available as a single Regular style.
