A 1975 ITC revival of Herbert Bayer's 1925 Bauhaus universal alphabet, expanded to five weights with capitals and a Cyrillic extension added by ParaType in 1994.
About
Originally drawn for the International Typeface Corporation by Edward Benguiat and Victor Caruso, the design takes Bayer's single-alphabet geometric letterforms as its starting point and introduces a full uppercase alongside five weights from Light to Heavy. The Cyrillic version was developed at ParaType (ParaGraph) by Tatiana Lyskova and Elvira Slysh in 1994. It is best suited to poster and display work where its overtly retro geometric character is an asset.
Classification
A geometric display face derived from Herbert Bayer's 1925 universal alphabet, with near-monolinear strokes and circular forms that reject traditional serif conventions. Its heavy optical character and range of weights make it suited exclusively to display use.
