A DIN-inspired geometric sans with a humanised construction, originally released in 2012 as DIN PT and expanded in 2022, covering Latin, Greek and extended Cyrillic across seven styles including a variable font.
About
Gate A1 softens the industrial rigidity of DIN with a slightly naive, straightforward construction and increased letter spacing that improves legibility under difficult conditions. Designed by Dmitry Kirsanov and extended by Alexander Lubovenko, it suits wayfinding, road signage and screen interfaces equally well. Extended Cyrillic support covers all major languages, and the family includes a functional set of arrows alongside alternate figure sets and graphic elements.
Classification
Inspired by DIN, Gate A1 sits in the geometric sans-serif tradition but softens the industrial rigidity of its prototype with a more humanised construction and slightly open letter spacing, making it more approachable than a strict DIN revival.
