A Cyrillic-rooted display typeface that blends sans-serif and serif features, drawing letterforms from antique Russian types and 15th–18th century Cyrillic scripts.
About
Originally designed in 2004 as a single weight, Bublik takes specific letterforms – including capitals Н, У and Ч and the lower-case щ – from antique Russian typefaces, while the lower-case г recalls the ascender-descender form common in historical Cyrillic handwriting. Two additional weights were added in 2008. The typeface was selected by the TDC2 2005 jury in New York.
Classification
Classified as display due to its mixed stylistic approach blending sans-serif and serif features, with letterforms drawn from antique Russian typefaces and historical Cyrillic scripts. Intended for advertising and display use rather than continuous text.
