Asmik specimen from ParaType

An Armenian text and display typeface drawn in 1997 by Manvel Shmavonyan, adapted from Vladimir Yefimov's PT Petersburg into four styles covering Book and Bold with matching italics.

About

Designed for ParaType in 1997, Asmik transplants the classical proportions of Yefimov's 1992 PT Petersburg into the Armenian script. The four-style family – Book, Italic, Bold and Bold Italic – is suited to both continuous text setting and display typography. Its elegant, restrained character reflects the magazine and editorial tradition it was built to serve.

Classification

Armenian typeface derived from PT Petersburg, itself a transitional serif design; the Armenian script adaptation retains classical proportions suited to both text and display use.
