A low-contrast serif in six styles with two distinct character registers: a strict, sharp-terminalset for scientific and literary work, and calligraphic alternates suited to fiction and art books.
About
Designed by Natalia Vasilyeva and released by ParaType in 2014, Aelita offers a neutral primary character set defined by clear terminals and stiff junctions between stems and bowls. A second set of lowercase alternates shifts the texture towards something more fluid and calligraphic, making the family unusually adaptable. The six styles span Book, Medium and Bold, each with a matching italic.
Classification
A low-contrast serif with sharp terminals and stiff stem-to-bowl junctions, placing it between transitional and contemporary serif styles. The dual character set – strict main glyphs and calligraphic alternates – gives it an unusual range for a single family.
