A grotesque sans derived from Cyrus Highsmith's slab serif Dispatch, expanded into a 50-style family spanning five widths and five weights with italics throughout.
About
Originally an experiment branching off Highsmith's Dispatch, Stainless has earned a track record in editorial headlines and pull quotes across publications from Señor Fútbol to the Wall Street Journal. The re-release as Stainless 2, assisted by Cem Eskinazi, adds Cyrillic and Greek alongside a deep Latin Extended character set, and organises the family into Compressed, Condensed, Regular, Extended and Wide subfamilies. That range of widths makes it adaptable across tight column measures and large-format display work without changing typeface.
Classification
Stainless 2 is a sans-serif derived from a slab serif (Dispatch), stripped of serifs to produce a clean grotesque character. Its broad width range and editorial application place it firmly in the grotesque sans tradition.
