scriptNastaliq-Naskh hybrid
Hafez specimen from NoonFont

A single-weight Persian typeface that merges the diagonal elegance of Nastaliq with the structural clarity of Naskh, anchoring Nastaliq forms to a consistent baseline.

About

Designed by Hossein Badzohreh and Amin Abedi and released in May 2025, Hafez draws on two pillars of Iranian calligraphy to produce a typeface suited to literary, cultural and media work. The placement of Nastaliq forms along a Kursi line is its defining structural decision, producing a balance rarely achieved in blended-script designs. It supports Persian, Arabic, Urdu and Kurdish, making it applicable across a range of Perso-Arabic script contexts.

Classification

A calligraphic Arabic-script typeface that fuses Nastaliq and Naskh traditions, retaining the diagonal flow of Nastaliq while anchoring forms to a consistent baseline for legibility. Classified as script due to its calligraphic origins and flowing letterform construction.
