Dibaj
NoonFont · Atefeh Mohammadi, Reza Bakhtiarifard · 2022

A nine-weight Arabic text typeface rooted in Mohaqeq calligraphy, designed for long-form reading in books and magazines, with a variable font version spanning both weight and contrast axes.
About
Designed by Atefeh Mohammadi and Reza Bakhtiarifard, Dibaj draws on the Mohaqeq script tradition while adapting its curved, high-aspect-ratio letterforms for contemporary text use at sizes as small as 7pt. Large counters, disciplined spacing and exaggerated vertical proportions maintain an even text grey across extended passages. The Pro package extends the family to three contrast styles in addition to nine weights, giving designers significant tonal range across a single project.
Classification
Dibaj is an Arabic-script typeface rooted in the Mohaqeq calligraphic tradition, modernised for extended text setting. Its high-contrast, high-aspect-ratio letterforms and large counters place it within the Naskh text serif category.
