Croissant specimen from NoonFont

A five-weight Arabic display typeface drawn from the lettering style of 1970s Iranian cinema posters and signage, with a geometric sensibility and strong, fluid curves.

About

Designed by Ali Pezeshk and released in November 2024, Croissant takes its structural cues from the hand-lettered titles found on Iranian movie posters and cinema windows of the 1970s. The result is a fluent, geometrically organised Arabic script with a clean Swiss-influenced rigour applied to an Iranian calligraphic skeleton. Latin support is provided by FivoSans by Alex Slobzheninov, and the family is suited to environmental graphics, logotypes and short display texts.

Classification

A display Arabic script typeface with geometric construction and strong, simple curves. Its poster-oriented character, inspired by 1970s Iranian cinema signage, places it firmly in the display category rather than a neutral text classification.
