Pancetta Pro specimen from Mint Type

A squarish geometric sans by Andriy Konstantynov, distinguished by pillow-shaped terminals that soften horizontal stems throughout the Latin and Cyrillic character sets.

About

Released in 2013, Pancetta Pro pairs a semi-closed aperture with a squarish skeleton and rounded, pillow-shaped terminals rather than conventional flat or angled cuts. The terminal treatment is applied with particular purpose to Cyrillic, where repetitive horizontal strokes can create visual monotony, introducing subtle rhythm without resorting to decorative flourishes. The family spans eight weights from Thin to Black, each with a matching italic, totalling 16 styles.

Classification

A squarish geometric sans with semi-closed apertures and distinctive pillow-shaped terminals that soften the otherwise angular construction. The rounded stem endings are deployed specifically to address the repetitive horizontals common in Cyrillic, giving it an unusual character among geometric sans designs.
