Polytype Text is built around a superellipse curve that holds straight well into each corner, producing flat-flanked rounds and open counters that hold up at small sizes. The variable weight axis runs continuously from Thin to Black, while stylistic sets allow square dots, two rhythms for arch-based letters, and multiple alternates for individual characters, each applied uniformly across a paragraph. The result is a workhorse text face with a precise, instrument-like logic to its controls.
