Metaplasm specimen from Marmite de Fontes

A 2025 display sans from Guillaume Berry that channels the visual grammar of 1970s science fiction film, available in regular and condensed widths with sliced variants and variable font support.

About

Inspired by Andrei Tarkovsky's Solaris (1972) and cyberpunk aesthetics, Metaplasm arrives in eight styles across regular and condensed widths, each with a 'sliced' variant that introduces a distinctive cut-through letterform detail. Variable font versions allow axis-based control of width and the slices effect. Latin coverage spans 254 languages, giving it broader utility than its cult-film references might suggest.

Classification

A display sans with a strong geometric and retro-futurist character, designed explicitly for display use with sci-fi and cyberpunk aesthetic references. The condensed widths and sliced variant styles reinforce its display-only orientation.
