Orion Typeface specimen from 6TM Magazine

A single-weight cyberpunk display face by Paris-based designer Melvin Ghandour, built on Greek letter skeletons and originally drawn for a short film logotype.

About

Orion was designed in 2020 for the title card of the short film "Nostromo", with its skeleton borrowed from Greek letterforms and its aesthetic from cyberpunk fiction's collision of high technology and social decay. The result is a hard-edged, angular display face suited to headline or identity use in sci-fi and dystopian contexts. With 81 glyphs, a single weight and no italic, it is narrow in application by design.

Classification

Geometric display face with a deliberately angular, futuristic skeleton drawn from Greek letter forms. Hard diagonals and sharp terminals give it a sci-fi quality without falling into pure techno pastiche. Single weight, no italics, very limited glyph set (81 glyphs covering basic Latin, numerals and minimal punctuation).
