Kuiper
Marmite de Fontes · Guillaume Berry · 2023

A grid-based modular display family built from just eight shapes, varying fill levels and 45-degree rotations to produce ten distinct static styles plus a variable font.
About
Inspired by a receipt ticker in an arts and crafts shop, Kuiper organises letterforms on a strict grid using combinations of blob, dot and star shapes, each available in standard and inky (filled) versions with optional 45-degree rotation. The variable font exposes axes for shape, ink level and rotation, giving designers direct control over the aesthetic. Latin coverage spans 372 languages, and OpenType features include small caps, oldstyle figures, fractions and a stylistic alternate set.
Classification
A grid-based display typeface built from a limited set of geometric shapes with variant fills and rotations, producing a modular, experimental aesthetic entirely unsuited to running text.
