Heckle traces back to a tiny 2005 sketch with a 1940s/50s brush-script feel, drawn from memory rather than any specific source. Simonson committed to developing it properly in 2025, expanding the original sketch to six weights from Light to Black. Sharp inner corners on the curves give it a crisp, energetic look, alongside an alternate lowercase e, contextual all-caps alternates, automatic fractions and a set of dingbats.
