Rascal Script
Abstract Office · Benjamin Woodlock · 2024

A one-weight brush script that trades a huge alternate set for three ligatures and a spare, old-school rhythm.
About
Rascal Script is an exuberant broad-brush connected script built for display settings, with wild calligraphic strokes and a deliberately reckless feel. Rather than leaning on a large suite of alternates, it works from an economy of forms borrowed from metal-type scripts, using just three ligatures and one alternate lowercase s to keep its rhythm. It ships in a single style with an extensive Latin character set, Vietnamese included.
Classification
A connected brush script built from wood-type-inspired metal-script forms rather than a large alternate set, so it reads as an economical, old-school script rather than a modern calligraphic one.
