Felt Tip Senior reproduces the handwriting of Simonson's father, an influence on his own hand seen in Felt Tip Roman. The mostly-capitals writing style leaves the lowercase with some unusual, idiosyncratic forms. It began life as a private gift in 1995 under the name Leroy Lettering, renamed before release to avoid confusion with an existing lettering-tool brand.
