Grotek
Lettersetal · Matt Burvill · 2023

A Swiss-influenced technical grotesque with nine weights, geometric precision and a matched monospace companion.
About
Grotek applies the discipline of Swiss type design to neo-grotesque proportions. Letterforms are clean and precise without being rigidly constructed from circles – curves are consistent rather than geometric. Nine weights from Hairline to Black come with true italics and variable font support, alongside a matched monospace companion in Grotek Mono.
Classification
The foundry describes it as a 'technical grotesk': neo-grotesque in proportion and character but drawn with geometric discipline throughout. Open counters, consistent stroke contrast and the neutral double-storey 'a' in italic confirm the grotesque classification. The specimen tagline 'Technical, not Identical' captures the approach precisely.
