Spirits
Latinotype · Alfonso García · 2020

A three-variant display serif revival of Hermann Ihlenburg's 1912 Schoeffer Old Style, offering editorial, soft and contemporary sharp treatments across four weights each.
About
Based on Hermann Ihlenburg's Schoeffer Old Style from the 1912 ATF catalogue, Spirits preserves the condensed proportions and large x-height of the original while branching into three distinct subfamilies. Soft sits closest to the printed source material; Neutral introduces more formal serifs suited to newspaper headlines; Sharp takes a contemporary direction better suited to modern branding. Each subfamily spans four weights from Light to Black, totalling 12 styles, with per-subfamily alternates and coverage for over 200 languages.
Classification
