Macarons specimen from Latinotype

A hand-lettered display family by Guisela Mendoza, drawn with a ruling pen and loosely inspired by Garamond, released in 2014 with catchwords, ornaments and a sketch variant.

About

Each character is drawn by hand rather than constructed from modules, giving the family a fresh, spontaneous quality suited to food packaging, menus and invitation design. The full seven-style family spans light through bold weights, a sketched variant, gestural catchword swashes and a set of dingbat ornaments. Its Garamond roots lend a classical structure beneath the freestyle ruling-pen execution.

Classification

A hand-drawn display face inspired by Garamond but rendered with a ruling pen in a loose, gestural manner. Its monoline and sketched variants, along with catchword swashes, place it firmly in the decorative/display category rather than a conventional script or serif classification.
