Heldane Display specimen from Klim Type Foundry

A sharply drawn garalde display serif over a decade in the making, synthesising van den Keere, Garamont, Granjon and de Colines into a unified face with genuine historical depth.

About

Designed by Kris Sowersby and released in 2018, Heldane Display draws its lowercase character from Hendrik van den Keere's dense aesthetic, its capital forms from Simon de Colines, and its numerals from Robert Granjon. Optimised for large sizes, it pairs with Heldane Text for body setting – together forming a complete editorial system. The family took over a decade to develop and received recognition from the Type Directors Club, Tokyo TDC and Graphis Typography.

Classification

Third-generation garalde/oldstyle, synthesising Renaissance punchcutting traditions from van den Keere, Garamont, Granjon and de Colines. High contrast with sharp, tense serifs and dense lowercase. Optimised for display sizes; companion Heldane Text handles body copy. Classified Garalde/Oldstyle.
