Kerl
Karsten Lücke · Karsten Lücke · 2009
sans-serifhumanist sans

A plain-spoken sans originally commissioned for a Chanel book project, since expanded into a full text family.
About
Kerl keeps its ambitions modest: five honest weights with no italic, built to carry text rather than draw attention to itself. It began as custom lettering for Karl Lagerfeld's book on Chanel's Russian connections and was later developed into a full family with Cyrillic support and a set of historic alternate letterforms.
Classification
A plain, unfussy sans with even weight distribution and no display flourishes, built for straightforward text setting rather than character.
