Operand
Kanon Foundry · Alexander Örn · 2021

A near-monolinear geometric sans by Alexander Örn, shaped by 1930s Scandinavian functionalist architecture and released in five weights with matching italics.
About
Operand takes its formal cues from the clean, unornamented letterforms associated with Swedish funkis architecture of the 1930s, translating their geometric discipline into a type family of 10 styles. The near-monolinear stroke weight and simple construction give it a restrained, rational character suited to contexts where clarity and understatement are priorities. Alternate single-storey 'a' and 'g' glyphs offer additional geometric rigour when required.
Classification
Low contrast, near-monolinear strokes and simple geometric letterforms place this firmly in the geometric sans tradition, with its Scandinavian functionalist reference points linking it to the 1930s modernist tendency rather than the humanist grotesque branch.
