Tor Weibull's 2025 expansion of Ad Werner's 1973 Paperclip Contour, extending the original outline-only lowercase into a full 16-style family with five weights, italics and a retalic cut.

About

The original Mecanorma release by Ad Werner offered only outlined lowercase letters, figures and basic punctuation; Clippy completes the family with full uppercase, an extensive glyph set of 530 characters and coverage of 219 languages. A filled version of Werner's letterforms had previously appeared in the 1972 logo for the Dutch feminist magazine Opzij but was never commercialised. Weibull's revival honours the graphic character of the source material whilst building a disciplined, multi-weight system including a distinctive retalic style alongside conventional roman and italic cuts.

Classification

A display typeface rooted in an outlined contour style, derived from Ad Werner's 1973 Paperclip Contour. The distinctive letterforms with their outlined construction place it firmly in the display category, designed for large-scale use rather than running text.
