JL Lente exists as a research project examining how grotesque and neo-grotesque typefaces have shifted from radical novelty to typographic neutrality over the past century. The sole weight, named Gold, comes in two styles: the standard cut and Gold Angled. Developed by Jungmyung Lee, the typeface treats the naming of weights as a site of enquiry, proposing Gold as a replacement for Bold to question established classification conventions.
