Factor B specimen from Interval Type

A considered geometric grotesque with a disciplined default set and an expressive Altiverse alternate system that shifts its register entirely for display and logotype work.

About

Factor B is a six-weight geometric grotesque by Ilya Naumoff of Interval Type, drawing on Futura and Johnston Sans without copying either. Its default character set reads as clean and neutral across display and text sizes; the Altiverse alternate system, built from geometrically structured forms with a nod to analogue synth-era lettering, gives designers a second, more characterful mode for headlines and identities. Extended Latin and Cyrillic coverage make it a practical workhorse beyond its expressive ambitions.

Classification

Geometric grotesque drawing on Futura and early 20th-century sans-serifs, including Johnston Sans, as conceptual anchors. Deliberately more rational in construction than its sibling Factor A, yet varied cap and ascender heights prevent it from reading as purely mechanical. The Altiverse OpenType alternate set introduces a second register of geometrically constructed letterforms, partly influenced by analogue synth-era typography, intended for display and logotype work. No italic or condensed variants.
