Chiq & Shad specimen from IngoFonts

A revival and expansion of Apple's Chicago system font, extended into a variable family spanning multiple weights and widths, with a companion shadow-only layer font called Shad.

About

Chiq departs from the single-weight Chicago typeface of classic Mac OS, rebuilding it on a deliberately simple vector geometry with few anchor points and increasing stroke contrast towards heavier cuts. The family runs from Light to Black across Normal to UltraExpanded widths, with italics, and is available as a variable font. Shad mirrors Chiq's metrics exactly but renders only the letterform shadows, enabling layered typographic effects with optional three-dimensional depth.

Classification

A geometric display family derived from Apple's Chicago bitmap font, characterised by high regularity, minimal anchor points, and increasing stroke contrast towards heavier weights. The UltraExpanded widths push legibility to its limits, functioning more as decorative banding than readable text.
