A seven-weight grotesque by Diana Ovezea that revives industrial-era letterforms with rounded counterforms, proportional oldstyle figures by default and a characterful straight-tailed lowercase 'y'.
About
Part of the Equitan superfamily alongside Equitan Slab, this sans draws on nineteenth-century grotesque models while avoiding the sterility of mid-twentieth-century neogrotesque revivals. Closed apertures and arched forms are softened by rounded counterforms in letters such as b, d, p, q and the two-storey g. Each of the seven weights ships with a true italic, 418 glyphs per font, and OpenType access to tabular and lining figure sets alongside the default proportional oldstyle numerals.
Classification
Closed apertures, arched shapes and rounded counterforms situate Equitan Sans firmly in the nineteenth-century grotesque tradition, updated with contemporary details such as a distinctive straight-tailed lowercase 'y' rather than the diagonal found in neogrotesque revivals.
