A sans-serif family derived from Ed Benguiat's 1968 Planet of the Apes title lettering, developed with Christian Schwartz into seven fonts spanning display and text optical sizes.
About
Drawing from the original Planet of the Apes logo and the Photo-Lettering alphabet Benguiat subsequently developed, House Industries worked with Christian Schwartz to build a conservative yet characterful sans-serif across three weights – Orangutan, Chimpanzee and Gorilla – each offered in Display and Text cuts. A fourth Display variant, Sacred Scroll, adds a decorative register to the family. Simian was among the first boutique foundry releases to ship with OpenType features.
