Brylski specimen from HEX

A wood type revival commissioned by the Hamilton Wood Type & Printing Museum, drawing on 19th-century American poster styles and named for wood type worker Norb Brylski.

About

Based on a poster style previously offered as phototype by Dan X Solo under the name Midway Ornate, Brylski departs from its source material through revised proportions, an adjusted serif style and other refinements suited to wood type production. The typeface was designed specifically for physical production at the Hamilton Wood Type & Printing Museum, grounding it in the craft traditions of American job printing. It is available through Adobe Fonts and P22.

Classification

A display typeface rooted in 19th-century American poster wood type traditions, with decorative serifs and proportions optimised for large-scale wood type production. Its ornate character and poster heritage place it firmly in the display category.
