Rocher specimen from Harbor Type

A nine-font layered display family by Henrique Beier, built around angular letterforms that suggest the texture of stone without resorting to literal rocky decoration.

About

Rocher replaces conventional smooth curves with unexpected corners and unconventional letterforms, producing a rough, informal quality that reads as handmade rather than mechanical. The nine fonts in the family, ranging from spine to bevel, extrude, inline and outline variants, are designed to be stacked and mixed for layered typographic compositions. It won recognition at Tipos Latinos 8 and a Hiii Typography 2018 Merit Award, and is suited to logotypes, packaging, app headers and display headlines.

Classification

A display typeface built around a layering system of nine fonts, with angular letterforms and unusual structural details that evoke stonework without literal texture. The family's raison d'être is multi-layer composition rather than conventional text setting.
