serifgaraldeitalic
Kante specimen from Grim Type

A Garamond-style serif with knife-cut edges that read as smooth texture in text and show their teeth at display sizes.

About

Kante takes the garalde skeleton and swaps its curves for crisp facets and clipped terminals. Set small, the cuts disappear into an even, readable text colour; set large, they turn into the point of it. Six weights, each with an italic, from Regular to ExtraBold.

Classification

A Garamond-style old-style serif redrawn with sharp, cut-off terminals and flat facets in place of curves. The skeleton and contrast are garalde, so it files as a serif; the edges are the twist, and they only show at large sizes.
