GT Planar specimen from Grilli Type

A geometric sans by Dominik Huber that maps Retalic, Upright and Italic styles across a continuous 90-degree design space in 42 styles.

About

Released in 2022, GT Planar runs from -45° Retalic through upright to +45° Italic, treating slant as a continuous axis rather than a binary toggle between roman and italic. Six weights from Thin to Black are available in each of three style directions, with OpenType features offering single-storey alternates, curved numerals and flat-shape variants. The result is a family suited to editorial and identity work where the angle of type itself becomes a graphic variable.

Classification

GT Planar is a geometric sans-serif distinguished by its continuous axis system spanning Retalic, Upright, and Italic styles across a 90-degree range, placing it firmly in the geometric sans tradition with an experimental slant mechanism.
