GT Canon specimen from Grilli Type

A large-scale transitional serif system from Grilli Type spanning five widths, three optical sizes and seven weights, with a matching mono subfamily.

About

GT Canon is a highly systematic serif family built around five width variants — Condensed, Narrow, Standard, Extended and Expanded — each offered across three optical sizes (S, M, L) and seven weights from Light to Black, all with italics. The inclusion of a monospaced subfamily makes it unusually self-contained for a serif release of this kind. The design draws on transitional serif conventions with clear stroke contrast and structured letterforms suited to both continuous text and display use.

Classification

GT Canon exhibits the hallmarks of a transitional serif: strong stroke contrast, bracketed serifs and a rational, upright axis. The family's range of optical sizes, widths and the mono variant indicate a system designed with both editorial precision and functional range in mind.
