A six-weight humanist sans with an intentionally understated character, distinguished by an unusually rich set of stylistic alternates including single-storey forms, rounded dots and a slashed zero.
About
Designed by Giulia Boggio between 2020 and 2023, Fabio XM draws its personality from restraint rather than spectacle, offering quiet idiosyncrasies across 479 glyphs. The family spans six weights from Light to Black, with OpenType features that allow for meaningful variation: single-storey 'a', a stylised Dutch IJ, rounded dots and alternate punctuation. The design is named after the designer's partner, whose reserved and unpretentious character informed its blend of ordinariness and surprise.
Classification
A humanist-leaning sans-serif with quirky, idiosyncratic glyph details and a range of stylistic alternates, including single-storey 'a', rounded dots and a stylised Dutch IJ, giving it an introverted but distinctive character.
