An upright script in five weights designed by Amy Hood, drawing on the relaxed, retro character of California bayside signage and club lettering.
About
East Bay occupies the space between formal calligraphic scripts and breezy casual faces, offering a high x-height that keeps it legible at a range of sizes. Four OpenType stylistic sets provide ornate alternates, short-leg variants for J, K, L and R, and ornate ornamental options, giving designers fine control over the level of flourish. The family is named after a street in Newport Beach and evokes the hand-painted signage and faded awnings of mid-century bayside Americana.
Classification
An upright script with high x-height and generous alternates, blending retro charm with a modern, unfussy sensibility. It sits between formal and casual script traditions without committing fully to either.
