A brutalist sans-serif spanning eleven styles from Ultrawhite to Infrablack, with fixed-width characters, over 600 glyphs and an architectural shift in the heaviest cuts from upright to a quasi-cursive stance.
About
Designed by Martin Tiefenthaler, ocr-t maintains consistent character widths regardless of weight, allowing cuts to be mixed without disrupting text flow. At the extreme heavy end, the Infrablack style alters letterform architecture to achieve maximum density, creating an unusual contrast with lighter cuts that share the same colour value. The family includes stylistic sets, small capitals, oldstyle figures, arrows and a range of decorative glyphs including pointing hands.
Classification
Described explicitly as a 'brutalist sanserif', ocr-t takes cues from OCR-style lettering and presents a monospaced-width approach across eleven weight-like styles, placing it firmly in the grotesque/display sans-serif territory with an industrial, functional character.
