Materiel extrapolates one detail, the angular spur of the uppercase G on the AIGA Graphic Design USA: 1 cover, into a full condensed geometric family. Its sharp, commanding shapes sit on a simple base but carry refined optical adjustments. Black Italic in caps is the family at its most extreme, and the italics use a deliberately blunt construction with an exaggerated slant.
