Museo
exljbris · Jos Buivenga · 2008

A five-weight semi-slab family originating from a single distinctive treatment of the uppercase U, with three weights available free and two available commercially.
About
Museo's letterforms are built on a geometric foundation with stub serifs applied selectively rather than uniformly, giving it a character distinct from conventional slab serifs. Five weights span from hairline to black, with OpenType features including ligatures, contextual alternates, stylistic alternates, fractions and both proportional and tabular figures. Central European language support and a case-sensitive forms feature broaden its utility beyond basic Latin.
Classification
Museo sits between a sans-serif and a slab serif, with semi-slab (bracketed stub) serifs appearing only on specific strokes such as the tops of vertical stems. The design originated from a distinctive treatment of the uppercase U and carries a geometric, low-contrast structure throughout.
