A revival of the first web version of Arial, redrawn from scratch, with semi-mono and mono cuts and a dark-mode axis.

About

Based on Arial v2.82, the version that spent years on the web, and rebuilt rather than traced: stems evened out, missing characters drawn, weights made consistent with each other. Three weights with italics, plus semi-mono and mono versions of the whole thing. The variable font carries a dark-mode axis that compensates for light text on a dark ground.

Classification

A redrawn Arial, so it inherits the neo-grotesque skeleton of Helvetica by way of Monotype. Semi-mono and mono cuts ship alongside the proportional one, which is why it carries the mono flag despite being a grotesque at heart.
