A dense, blocky display face by Kourosh Beigpour, drawn Arabic first with Latin, Cyrillic and Greek built to match.
About
Afzoon, Persian for 'extra', squeezes every letter between three shared lines, so the type sets dark and square with an even, insistent rhythm. Small breaks cut into the strokes keep the shapes open enough to read. It covers 576 languages across Arabic, Latin, Cyrillic and Greek, and was one of the Society of Typographic Arts' 100 in 2023.
Classification
A heavy, cubic display face in which every glyph sits between three shared lines, with tight uniform spacing and deliberate breaks inside the strokes. The Latin is drawn from the Arabic: its x-height matches the Arabic body and its ascenders and caps match the Arabic ascenders.
