A neo-grotesque family in which each stroke path is doubled to mimic the dual-nib construction of a flatbed plotter, producing equal (40–40) or differentiated (40–140) line pairs across three intensity variants.
About
Pen Twinline duplicates the monoline skeleton of the broader Pen system to replicate the dual-tool mechanism of machines such as the Zuse Z64 Graphomat. Three subfamilies – Twinline, Twinline X and Twinline XX – vary the prominence of the ink-squash marks that accumulate at stroke junctions, while SVG styles strip the squashes entirely for use in plotting, engraving and laser cutting. Stylistic sets shift the underlying geometry toward modernist references including Herbert Bayer, Paul Renner and André Gürtler.
Classification
A neo-grotesque monoline skeleton with duplicated stroke paths distinguishes it as a display face; the Twinline construction, ink-squash system and plotter-derived SVG styles place it firmly outside conventional text or sans-serif classification.
