On a mission to create the world’s biggest index of typefaces from the world’s best type foundries

displaycondensed display sanscondensed
Rather Sway specimen from Damn Type Co

A tall condensed display face drawn from André De Takacs's hand-lettered 1907 sheet music cover, extended into a full character set of 305 glyphs with support for 40+ languages.

About

The source material — a single sheet music illustration from 1907 — supplies the sturdy verticals, imperfect angles and painted rhythm that define the design. Missing characters were drawn to match, resulting in a complete Latin family that retains the eccentric, hand-crafted quality of early popular-culture lettering. It suits headlines, packaging and signage where a distinctly human, period-inflected voice is needed.

Classification

A tall, condensed display sans rooted in early 20th-century hand-lettered sheet music cover art. The letterforms are characterised by sturdy verticals, imperfect angles and quirky curves that evoke painted, vernacular lettering rather than any geometric or grotesque tradition.
